Wow – we are in our new home in Honduras finally! The first night we didn’t have curtains on all the windows because we moved in at like 9:30 pm. So we all setup camp in our bedroom for night one. I was afraid of ants biting the girls (yeah they bite like crazy here…) so I got our folding chairs and table together to create a “portable bed” in our room 😉 Ally and Mya thought it rocked, which makes daddy feel like a hero of course!
Flor, Stephanie, and Nahomy cannot stay in our home just yet, we are waiting on the lady from IHNFA to see our home and give us final approval. It feels a bit odd not having them in our home. However, we needed the time to get the house setup and prepare for focusing on them a ton this summer before we open the EFP school in August.
Our dog Colt should be down here next week too, so there’ll be 8 of us in the house. We are pumped for that.
The varied emotions have just been well… extreme for Britt and I. Sad from leaving, excited for serving our God, scared about safety, and more than anything – overwhelmed with love for all the girls in our ministry.
We’ve spent the last 3 months preparing to leave home and finally getting here to setup a new home. So I think naturally we spent the last week really focusing on ourselves a bit more than we’d like. Now it’s time to shift gears to loving all these girls and investing in their lives. We feel so incredibly blessed to be able to serve God in this way.
There are so many ideas and thoughts running through my head – I’ll leave it at that for now. Just wanted to get back into blogging now that we have internet at the house and are getting settled.
Oh yeah, we met our girls’ birth mother, but I’ll let Brittany write about that….
