Until recently, I honestly didn’t know that Habakkuk was a book in the bible. I am not really sure how I have missed this little, yet mighty book. Maybe I momentarily feel asleep while learning that part of the Books of the Bible song. Who knows! But, I have gone back to this verse a lot over the last several months.
The Lord replied, “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.” Habakkuk 2:3 NLT
Here the Lord is speaking of the end, but I think this applies to our lives in general as well.
Lets be honest, it is HARD to wait! I try to don the fruit of patience when faced with the waiting game but it doesn’t take long for impatience to take over.
Whether we are waiting in traffic, waiting on a child to pass a phase, waiting on a move, waiting on results from a test, waiting on God to speak, or something in between; we are called to be patient. But why?
Because God has big plans, for each one of us. A story that He is writing and His plans are always timely. While we might think things are going a bit too slow, He is teaching us patience. He is teaching us trust. He wants us to lean on Him while we wait and He will strengthen us.
I am definitely a work-in-progress!
