There is a battle and it is very real. We may not see it and then again maybe we do. Maybe we are so used to seeing it that we turn a blind eye. We long not to see it. We long not to feel its pain. It is the battle for our souls. And without God, it is a battle we cannot win.
Enemy. Satan. Evil one. Thief. Father of lies. He holds many names but comes with one purpose. To steal, kill, and destroy. If we allow him to, he will steal our peace, kill our dreams, destroy our very beings. He is sly. Trying to catch us at our weakest moments. It starts as just a little question. A little hint of doubt added to our selfish nature. And if we fall for it, the pit grows deeper. The battle rages.
How do you prepare for such a battle? We cannot count on our own abilities. If we do, we are jeopardizing our souls. We are playing a risky game where the stakes are too great.
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” -Ephesians 6:11
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” -Ephesians 6:13-17
There is a saying, “give them an inch and they’ll take a mile.” Don’t even give the enemy a millimeter.
“In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” -Romans 8:37
