Have you ever felt like you were in a rut? Day in, day out. Same ole things. Stress that doesn’t seem to lessen. A to-do list that never seems to get shorter. A fuse that just might blow at any second.
And yet we are told in John 10 that Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” It doesn’t say he came so we could barely survive. It doesn’t say he came so that we could drag through each day. He came to give us life and that we might live it to the full! We are not made to merely survive. We are made to thrive. We are made to live life to the full.
And, right now some of you might be asking, but how? How can I do that when things are chaotic? When schedules pull me thin? When life just gets hard?
My answer, although I am definitely not an expert — start small.
Make a schedule and don’t over commit. It is ok to say no.
Take time for yourself. Read a book, take a walk, take time to just be still and breathe in His presence.
Take time with your spouse. It doesn’t have to be a date night out, sit outside and look at the stars or enjoy an early morning cup of coffee and time with God together.
Take time to play with your kids. The dishes will still be there when you’re done. The laundry can wait. Just enjoy them. Look at life though their eyes. Explore and dream.
Jesus didn’t come so that we would be overburdened, stressed, or worn out. He came to give us life and for us to live it to the full.
How are you thriving in this world of busyness?
