Help me get through TODAY

Today

Today

I expect instant results, how about you?

For those of you that know me, you probably think that’s an understatement! :)  For those of you that don’t, you might struggle with that yourself or know someone who does.

This month Brittany and I had some MAJOR struggles.  Probably worst we’ve had in 3-4 years.  At the end of the day it boiled down to insecurities, anxiety, and pride for us, with a dash of selfishness.  A perfect cocktail from the devil…

John 10:10
New International Version (NIV)
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

One thing we noticed is these are things we have struggled with for as long as we can both remember.  So it made me think a bit.  We’ve been working on these same issues for a long time, but they still seem to show up from time to time.

I’m a fixer, so I keep thinking if we can just do X then we’ll never struggle with that again.  Or I ask Jesus to cure me from my weaknesses so I can be “better”.  (or so I don’t have to deal with them anymore…)  Just maybe God is trying to teach me something with my weakness.

To lean on Him daily.

The Holy Spirit gave me an epiphany this week….  It was something like this.

“Nick, why don’t you and Brittany stop trying to be perfect?  Stop trying to keep others from seeing your faults and failures.  Stop trying to fix yourselves. Give your problems to God each morning and just ask Me to take care of them for this day – Lean on Him for TODAY”

I’m not saying I will stop praying for a complete “fix” or that God will never deliver me from things I struggle with permanently.  BUT I am saying that Brittany and I are going to start asking for Him to carry us through today first, then we will go from there.

Psalm 55:22
New International Version (NIV)

22 Cast your cares on the Lord
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.

What burden are you trying to carry today that you need to release to Him?

Stop & Pray about it.  Try it and ask Him to take it today.  If you lack the faith that He can carry it for the day, ask Him to take it for the next hour.  Start there and build up…

Words well spoken Son! I know that there is no one out there that is perfect, not now, not ever. Lay it all in his hands and he will get you through anything. I love you all so much.

    Mom

I meant lay it all in God’s hands. That’s what I do and everything seems to always work out.
    Love,
    Mom
